On Saturday I had the honor of photographing my brother Martin’s wedding to the beautiful Alexis. It was a great day for our family. Here is a sneak peak of the wedding photos. There will be more to come shortly

Today’s photo is a young bride who was willing to put her wedding dress on and let me practice. ┬áThis is one of my favorite close up portraits we made. We created it at the main branch of the Hammond Public Library.

Today’s photo is from an engagement session for Mike and Michelle. They are a really great couple and I had a lot of fun photographing their engagement as well as their wedding. What I really like about this photo is that the purple they are wearing really sets them apart from the mostly green background.

Today’s photo of the day was something a little different and fun. We had finished creating some great photos at the Radisson in Merrillville during The Times Bridal Show last year and were headed back to the booth. When we walked past the arcade I had to have a photo in there so I put her at the pinball game and quickly got this.

Today’s photo is a wedding photo. My main light source for it was only a handful of table candles. I think it has a very nice warm and romantic feel. The texture and border make it look like a photograph that might be really old or it might not.

I don’t know if my Facebook followers have noticed, but I have been posting a photo per day for a little more than a week. I have decided to move it here to my blog. So here is my first installment of Photo of the Day. I created this photo last summer during a wedding on a rainy Saturday. All day we were in and out of rain, we got lucky during happy hour and were graced by some sunshine. It was during this time I was able to grab this. I pulled it out again recently and applied new artwork adding some texture too give it a little more depth.Mike and Michelle-1979-Edit

On the first day of their freshman year at Valparaiso University Noah and Caitlin met each other. They are now engaged and will be married at the chapel at Valparaiso University next spring. I got to spend an evening with them on the University grounds creating engagement portraits of them at some of the places that had special meaning to them.

The tree in this photograph is a campus landmark know to the students as “Merlin”.

This building is the dorm where Caitlin lived her senior year at Valparaiso.

Here are my favorite Images from Dan and Debbie’s wedding. We spent some time between the wedding and the reception getting some fun images of the happy couple and the bridal party.

Last weekend was the 2010 Bridal Show sponsored by the Times. MJ Photography setup a booth there and met some brides looking for a wedding photographer. We would like to congratulate Michelle Mentink and Michael Farrell who won a free wedding photography package. Their engagement session and wedding will be featured on a future blog post, so please check back often.

During the show we also had a model, Kelly Jordan, in a wedding dress and professional hair and make-up for a bridal photo shoot. I would like to thank everybody that volunteered their time and services to make the photo shoot happen. I have listed them all below with a detailed photograph showing off their particular products or services. You can also get more information about each of the vendors on the Vendors List tab on this blog.

Our model is the beautiful Kelly Jordan, you can see more of our shoot here.

The dress was supplied by Jolynn Oparka at David’s Bridal in Merrillville.

The hair was done by Vicki Juarez or Panache Salon and Spa in Crown Point.

The Flowers were provided by Sarah and put together by Jo Twiddy at A Time to Remember Florist in Schererville.

Adoring Eyes

I took this image at my very first hired wedding. The wedding was on Halloween night in 2006 and although it was an unconventional wedding, the groom wore a kilt and several of the guests were in costume, you can see from the look in the brides eyes here that she is deeply in love. The wedding was held at the South Shore Country Club in Cedar Lake Indiana.
