In order to celebrate nine years of Eric, we spent Saturday afternoon at the Lego Discovery Center in Schaumburg Illinois. Lucky for him it was a Star Wars weekend! Which meant that we were there with thousands of other families and children. The kids enjoyed though, which is all that really matters. They had some stormtroopers in full gear walking around as well as some other miscellaneous imperial and rebel soldiers. I heard rumors of Darth Vader sightings, but other than the Lego version pictured below I didn’t see him. The boys both got to contribute toward the building of a Lego R2-D2 that when completed will be 8 to 9 feet tall.
I had my camera with me of course, so for those of you that are interested, I’ll walk through my thought process for the day. It was my intention to take some hand held HDR (High Dynamic Range) photos of some of the exhibits because I knew they were in dark areas with bright spotlights. It turned out when I got the images into the computer and really analyzed them however that HDR wasn’t really necessary and i was able to capture everything in one well exposed photo. All the photos below, the only HDR is the Darth Vader and R2-D2 photo. I could have opted to use a flash, but they went through a lot of trouble to light the exhibits to achieve a certain affect. Had I overpowered their lights with a flash, then the affect and mood would be totally changed.
So, there you have it. That’s how I spent my weekend.
