Another school year has started which means school pictures are right around the corner. Are you going to be getting the same boring photographs for the umpteenth time now? Is your child really smiling or just showing his teeth like a mad dog? School photographers have hundreds of school age children to photograph all in a matter of hours. I’ve been there, it’s not easy. I know what you’re thinking though. “Yeah, but the price is right.” For a limited time only (The month of October) I am offering to match your school photographers price and give you a short portrait session. Now by short I mean by my standards, you will get a whole 15 to 30 minutes per family. That’s about how long the school photographer spends on one whole class.
I Will Match the School Photographer’s Print Prices.
All you need to do is bring in your students current picture envelope and I will match the print pricing. I guarantee that you will be thrilled with the results or you do not pay one dime. That’s right, if you are not more satisfied with what I can do you than the school photographer then you don’t pay. You are then free to send your child to the school photographer. I can only guarantee that I will be able to match the print prices as some companies have special products such as coffee mugs and such. I will do the best I can to find these items should you request them.
Limited Time, Only in the Month on October.
I can only make this offer during the month of October, due to an increased workload with holiday sessions and November start family portrait month at MJ Photography. Don’t let this opportunity slip by call 219-230-6440 for availability now.
Yesterday, I posted a wedding that was held at the Chapel of the Resurrection at Valparaiso University and I wrote about how beautiful the Chapel is. Well, today I thought I’d post a photograph of the Chapel so you could see for yourself.
I recently photographed the wedding of Noah and Caitlin Schroeder. They were married by Noah’s father which was a special moment for the both of them. The wedding was held at the Chapel of the Resurrection at Valparaiso University. This is an amazing and for Noah and Caitlin meaningful location for a wedding. Noah and Caitlin met each other as freshman at Valparaiso University and spent a lot of time on and around the University campus. Caitlin has graduated from law school and has just completed the Bar exam and Noah is studying physics. That’s a lot of brain power if you ask me! Anyway, here are some of my favorite photographs from their wedding.
Noah and his Dad share a moment right before the guys walk out to the altar.
High School Senior portraits are about capturing the spirit of youth as a young man or woman is about to set off into the real world. Every photograph captures a tiny moment in that time showing a smile or youthful good looks and style. I recently photographed Logan’s senior portraits and in the process I gave him a list of questions to answer. He selected his favorites and let me interview him. The results of that interview are shown in the following slideshow. I think this is pretty powerful, imagine him watching this 20 or 30 years from now. Not only seeing but also hearing.
Today’s photo of the day is probably one that you have seen already as I have displayed it quite often. However, I have decided to post it here as well, just because it is one of my favorites. No matter how many times I’ve seen it, I still try to put it up upside down. There is just so much going on it takes a few minutes to take it in.

I would like to dedicate this post to the memory of Paul Hubbard.
Sorry, It’s been a while without a photo of the day as I’ve been trying to catch up on some things here. I thought I’d try to make up for it a little by making today’s photo a slideshow instead. So enjoy my little entrepeneur and his lemonade stand.
Today’s photo is a cute little girl rolling around in the grass. Posed photographs are great and they have to be done, but to really capture the spirit of a child you need let them go a little a be ready for what they give you.
Today’s photo is a young bride who was willing to put her wedding dress on and let me practice. This is one of my favorite close up portraits we made. We created it at the main branch of the Hammond Public Library.
Happy Anniversary to Dan and Debbie. They were married one year ago Sunday. Today’s photo was created at Centennial Park in Munster between the ceremony and the reception. It was a great day and here’s to many more anniversaries for Dan and Debbie.
